Since 2000, SERC has been providing training and technical assistance to schools and districts in School-wide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (SWPBIS). Questions, suggestions, or comments about the website should be directed to Eben McKnight at mcknight@ctserc.org.

Back to About PBIS

The SERC/UConn collaboration has trained over 200 schools since 2005. Schools at all grade levels, including preschools as well as elementary, intermediate, middle, high, and alternative schools, have participated in School-wide PBIS training. However, approximately 51%, are elementary schools. Since 2000, over 48 districts have trained schools in Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports and over 225 schools have been trained.

Since 2006, districts have been required to establish a district team for managing district implementation and to commit to full-district involvement in PBIS. As of 2011, 38 districts have made this commitment. Districts establish roll-out plans to manage the district-wide scaling up of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. Since 2000, many districts have completed training district-wide.

On March 25, 2011, SERC held an informational meeting for districts interested in participating in PBIS during the 2011-2012 school year. The session was attended by superintendents and building principals from 16 school districts from across the state. It is expected that 60 schools from both new and returning districts will begin participation in the School-wide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (SWPBIS) Training Series during the fall of 2011, including 20 schools from the newly established Connecticut PBIS Collaborative between SERC, UConn, CES, CREC, and LEARN.
